October 2003 Meeting

Our October 2003 meeting was held at:

Jonathan Knispel (interim chair) introduced the meeting. There were 15-20 people present, with many familiar faces.

Andrew Marriott spoke about some of the work that the Facial Animation group at Curtin University has been undertaking in the last 4 or 5 years. It involved Computer Graphics, MPEG-4 standards, Dialogue Managers, Metaphors, multi-modal interfaces and much more. Simon and Andrew took turns to speak about the work. It was pleasing to hear Andrew giving insight into how his small research group came to be regarded as experts by the section of the European research community they were collaborating with.
