Speaker 1:

Peter Morris – Telesis Consulting

Peter be presented the results of a study he has recently undertaken for the State Department of Education and Training which has a working title, The Case for a Western Australian Digital Content & Application Developers’ Network (D-CAD Net). The report focusses on WA's Digital Content and Applications Industry and the opportunities and challenges it currently faces. The study is one of a number of projects commissioned by the government looking at the industry in order to develop a better understanding of it. Peter provided us with a brief outline of the work currently underway, the results and recommendations from his study and what this might mean for SIGGRAPH and its members.

Speaker 2:

Sohan Ariel Hayes

WILL is an ambitious 3D animated short film written and directed by Sohan Ariel Hayes. WILL is the story of a wooden boy who is trapped within a windowless room. The room is only an appearance, a subtle deception, its real function is as a cell and the cell is masquerading as a room in the attempt to make its occupant forget he is trapped in the first place. When a series of mysterious images are slid underneath his door, the entry point to his room, they explode the boundaries of his world and provide what may be the key to his escape.

In this presentation Sohan demonstrated some of the processes used in the production of a CG short film.
