Speaker 1
Nic Beames from Perth's DDD presented and answered questions regarding DDD's 3D Display Technology.

Last month Nic Beames returned from TAM 2005 (Thailand Animation Multimedia) where he was invited by the Thai government to present DDD's patented solutions for 3D without glasses at their technology showcase pavillion.
TAM 2005 attracted 130,000 visitors, up 30% on last year's attendances.
Thailand seeks to become "Hollywood of Asia" with respect to its animation output, and is a dynamic place for production of animated content. Incidentally Thailand and Australia signed "the other" FTA, or Free Trade Agreement which came into effect January 2005.
Speaker 2
Dr Peter Morse presented an overview of his work-in-progress on
creating a "virtual" Antarctica (see:
http://www.petermorse.com.au/PMcomhtml/antarctis.html), utilising a variety
of sources such as historical stereoscopic photography, contemporary stereoscopic
video and an interactive 3D run-time environment using game-engine technology.
Some ideas regarding photogrammetric reconstruction of historical content were also
explored. He'll describe his adventures shooting stereo video in Iceland using a self-built
rig, where he managed to find some icebergs and glaciers, having not yet made it to Antarctica.
Peter is a lecturer in Media Arts at Melbourne University.
