Kim Heitman - Digital Copyright, Open Source and New Legal Issues - a talk by Kimberley Heitman, B.Juris, LlB, AACS, MAICD.

We often think of legal issues as dull and complicated. This definitely wasnt the case when this month's speaker gave a presentation on some of the legal issues involved in digital content creation.

Kim has lectured nationally on legal issues associated with new technology, and has appeared before several parliamentary inquiries and WA courts as an expert witness. He serves on the editorial board of the Privacy Law Bulletin and regularly writes for that journal. He lectures regularly for UWA computer classes and research students on intellectual property and online issues. For more information about Kim, see: www.kheitman.com

Team Bondi/Depth Analysis

Team Bondi is a new Sydney-based video game company developing games and technologies for the next generation of PlayStation. Depth Analysis started off as a research project under Team Bondi and later became a separate company in May 2005. Depth Analysis is creating a system with an array of 150 video cameras to capture the performances of actors in real time. This data is then processed to create animated 3D models. Due to the large volume of data generated, they will be using a grid of up to 2000 CPUs to compress them for the purpose of playback on the console.

They've come to Perth to scout the local talent for their upcoming big-budget AAA title for the Playstation3, and are looking for programmers with either AI or Computer Vision experience. For more information on what they are looking for see our post or their website at www.teambondi.com.
